GENESIS OF IF CRASC CONGRESS SERIES

The origin of IF CRASC Congress series is related to the institution of the second level Master course on Forensic Engineering (Postgraduate Course) at the University of Naples Federico II: such a Master course includes subjects of both Civil and Industrial Forensic Engineering and it was the first on this topic in continental Europe.

Beside the traditional sector of Structural Forensic Engineering (mainly focused on failures and collapses), in the last years academics, professionals and public institutions have shown a growing interest not only in legal issues of engineering practice (procedures and responsibilities), but also in the forensic fields of Industrial Engineering and Information Technology. This led to extend the topics covered by past Congress on Collapses, Reliability and Retrofit of Structures, to the several sectors of Forensic Engineering.

The outstanding success of the IF CRASC '09 Congress (held at the University of Naples Federico II) and by other initiatives promoted in Italy and Abroad on similar subjects, motivated the Italian Association of Forensic Engineering (AIF) to organize the IF CRASC '12 Congress in collaboration with the University of Pisa.
